So many different fun things this
week! One being weeding a members jungle of a yard for three hours on Wednesday
and filling 45 BAGS full of weeds! And the yard isn't even there yet but
hopefully we can go back and make it look pretty. Her neighbors saw us all
hacking away and came out to peek at us over their perfectly trimmed hedges. I
think they were excited about the work we were doing, too.
We had three member present
lessons one day this week and they all could not have been more different. One
was okay, one was really rough, and one was one of the best lessons we have
taught! It was a testimony to me of the lords timing and preparedness of the
people we teach. I don't think it was anything different at Jorgensen Shimai
and I did between lessons, I really just think it wasn't the other two peoples
time to accept the gospel. The last lesson we had, the spirit was so strong,
and the lady just accepted everything so wonderfully! She has been prepared
through countless experiences in her life and the gospel is exactly what she
needs right now! As for the other two ladies, I know the missionaries will find
them at a day when they are more ready to accept the gospel.
We visit a member every week who
is in rehabilitation, is blind, and can't hear really well. He is so happy
every time we come and we get to sing hymns with him as he claps the beat. It's
always a spiritual hilight of the week. He loves in a room with a few other
guys and as we walked out I shook one of the other old guys hands and asked him
if he liked our singing and if we sounded good and he replied with 'well, I
don't know.' Haha at least nakagawauchi koydai loves it!
Also got the share the Christmas
video with two sailors that tried to ask us out to dinner, but instead we
brought the elders along and turned it into a lesson.
Yesterday was district conference
in Nagasaki and the spirit was so strong! Our mission presidents wife bore her
testimony in JAPANESE and it was so beautiful. There were so many people that
came, and I don't think I've been in a bigger congregation of lds Japanese
members. We, missionaries, are all working to have each individual area be that
big.
This time of year is so fun to be
a missionary. Getting to introduce people to their Heavenly Father and Jesus
Christ for the first time is such a privilege. Please pray for our
investigators and the incredible members here in Japan!
All my love, Sundell Shimai
